Positive foundation
Basically, I have a positive foundation to stand on towards most of what life’s journey offers. That doesn’t mean that I can’t be hurt and feeling sad at times.
A couple of years ago I felt really sad. My health wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be. I had just started this journey I am currently on, so I had lots to think about. We had just celebrated my sister-in-law’s birthday and I was so tired that I had to lay down on the couch between dinner and coffee-time. I couldn’t engage in the conversation that took place and I felt left behind and ashamed because my health kept me from being there for her. That took a toll on me, but I buried the feeling and kept smiling.
It is possible to feel deeply sad and still have a positive attitude towards life and everything that’s coming your way. After this incident I had many moments like that, and I still have them now and then but I know that this is how it is for now. I accepted the situation after a few times and realised that even if I can’t be where I want to be I still have a good life. Noting is forever so this will pass eventually. With my positive foundation I realised that life always sort things out in one way or the other. The only thing I can do is to live life as fully as I can, enjoy all the things that I already have and keep on enjoying my journey forward to the future. Acceptance and knowing that you can’t control everything is a powerful thing.
Failing forward
Life isn’t a dance on a bed of roses all the time, it is what you do with it. I started to walk this road because I wanted to earn money to get a new lifestyle where I could live my working life on my own terms. Working when I want and from where I choose but I found so much more, and it have changed my approach to life. The biggest change is my attitude, if life hits me hard the most important thing is how I handle the situation. I don’t blame myself for things going wrong anymore, it’s a lesson I must learn something from. There will always be times when life throws stuff in your way and you have the opportunity of choosing how to react to them. Moving forward at times means that you sometimes need to fail forward. You learn from your mistakes and things you have to handle to get where you want to go. I strongly believe that the only time you are failing is when you give up and stop doing the things you need to do if you want to reach your goals. It might just be one small step forward but still there is movement towards what you want in life. Take one tiny step and then take another tiny step and you are on your way.
